Today as I sit in my clinic, I feel a sense of sadness and at the same time a sense of peace.
The time has come to look at my life, yet once again and to where will it lead me now. After one of the most difficult and emotional decisions of my life.
As of the 30th of June 2018, I will be closing my clinic, to allow more time to spend with my darling husband, family and to provide even further support for you online.
As a sense gratitude for everything that I have learnt throughout my career and my life, that has helped and supported so many people over the years, a few years ago, I began sharing this support online. I first began writing blogs, this leading onto books and now have included my skin care range.
Currently I am developing a program, where I am putting into print and also video, the methods I have incorporated during my 35 years, that have been successful in supporting people with making positive changes with health, lifestyle, relationships and happiness. These being the very core foundations for overcoming and preventing ill-health and disease.
After 35 years of working one on one with my clients, many a time on very personal levels, incorporating consultations, counselling, massage, herbal and homeopathic medicines, nutrition advice and support with changing habits. Guiding so many of these wonderful people who have become my dearly loved friends, watching them to go on to live happy, healthy lives, to cope with their heartaches and tragedies has been a true blessing. This has given me great insight to now being able to support so many other people to achieve these dreams and goals, with easy and affordable access online.
Where my journey began –
Vulnerability was always the key essence to my wanting to study and learn all I could about becoming well, living a life of health and vitality. As I saw and still see with so many people when ill-health and disease hits, they are totally vulnerable and susceptible to not knowing where to start or given even the slightest direction as to regaining their health.
I have been asked so many times throughout my career –
What is a Naturopath?
When I commenced my Naturopathic Studies over 32 years ago, I would have said that a Naturopath is a person who treats health problems and disease naturally using herbal and homeopathic medicine, nutrition and implementing healthy lifestyle changes in order to become well. The Hippocratic oath is an oath that all Health Professionals are meant to stand by and that is – ” Is to treat without doing further harm”. There are many versions that have come out from this oath, but this is the original and what I set about to build my practice upon.
Naturopathic Studies involves all of the conventional medical science subjects, this is of vital importance for any health practitioner to have a clear and firm understanding of the body’s physiological, psychological, emotional and pathological terrain. Naturopathic Studies also involves training in primary health care, otherwise known as general practitioner, specializing in dispensing and management of naturopathic medicine, nutrition, nutritional supplements, food – especially in regards as food being either your best medicine or your worst enemy, lifestyle support and treatment protocols.
What does a Naturopath do?
As a Naturopathic practitioner my vital role is in providing these previously mentioned treatments, providing the much needed support for the body to heal and regain health. Naturopathic medicine’s foundation lies in changing and eliminating the elements that cause ill-health and disease, believing that prevention is far easier and better than cure. Many times I have worked in conjunction with other Specialized Health Care Professionals.
Respect and Understanding!
“You are not a sum of your physiology but you are an integrated work of God (Higher Universe), that no-one can replicate. Your makeup involves the interconnection of your physiological parts, psychological emotions, brain function and nervous system, together with your soul, your unique blueprint, your intuition. These are all vital and necessary elements of Naturopathic Studies, also to learn the fundamental issues involved with prescribed medication, the effects this has on the body, not just in the short term but in the long term. Many a time during my career the effects of medication have been the cause of a person’s health concerns.
As I sit here typing this article for you, it all seems so difficult to comprehend that over this period of time, I have treated and supported thousands of people. I have been privileged to so many stories of heartbreak, pain and tragedy. That has been instrumental to my being the practitioner I am today. I also have worked through my own tragedies and pain.
In 2015, I was recognized as a World Health Leader in Naturopathic medicine to which I found overwhelming and surreal. This came about because of the commitment and dedication that I had given to so many people over the years in their journey for a healthier and happier life.
Over the years, I have found that it isn’t about “treating a person with an illness or disease”, it is about learning to understand them, helping them to understand themselves and what they want, what are there desires for their life. What makes them tick, because until these things are discovered, nothing was going to work for them to become well and for their life to change for the better.
I have found Naturopathic medicine has been more than just treating a person with a pill, potion, change of diet it has been helping them to discover the awesome person whom they truly are first, so that they could then have the courage and determination to do what was necessary to take the medicine, change their diet/lifestyle, to stay long term committed.
My new journey is just beginning, sharing with you tried and true methods of Living a Life of Optimal Health, Happiness & Vitality, that you will have access to in the comfort of your own home.
