People soon become tired of us when we start talking about our issues and problems. Especially when we don’t seem to have an immediate answer to fix them.
So why put pressure on ourselves and others by burdening them with these, when we can do this with a person who will look at this from much better perspective and no emotional attachment.
A very imperative and important role of being a Naturopathic Practitioner is getting to the very core of health issues, because without this you are not able to bring about holistic healing. So a very important part of our treatment process is through what is known as Cognitive Counselling. Cognitive Counselling is being able to get to the very core of the problems whilst making positive steps toward an empowering outcome.
Having regular therapy has positive and beneficial effects for supporting your relationships, because you are not dumping these situations onto the people whom you care about. You are also able to work through them without you closet people knowing all of your inner most feelings. You are able to get them sorted, this enables you to function far more effectively.
How Therapy Supports and Speeds up your Success
The most important thing here is that we are able to openly discuss our concerns, fears and insecurities that may well be a huge roadblock to our moving in the right direction with our success. A great example to this is that you may well have this great goal to say eat healthier and each time you start, you go well, feel better then all of a sudden go back to eating badly. Why might this be, because somewhere in the back of your subconscious there is a little voice saying that this isn’t going to make any difference? So that until you actually speak with an impartial person such as a therapist and they ask you a series of questions, this will unfold and you will be able to change that subconscious thought.
There are time throughout your Life that you seem to have Blockages or Times when you seem to hit a brick wall not being able to put the things in place that you want.
This could be due to an emotional cause or base to why you can’t seem to move forward. This is where therapy can be very helpful, talking out your concerns with someone who is not emotionally involved but able to help you to bring perspective to what is happening.
These blockages may well be within your subconscious having been things you experienced as a child.
Some of the events that can be the base of these blockages are:
- Neglect by a caregiver
- Abuse – physical, mental, sexual abuse, verbal abuse
- Death of a parent or sibling
- Addictive care giver
- Emotionally disconnected parent(s)
- Negative reinforcement from person of authority
- Volatile/unsafe/unstable environment
- Extreme poverty
- Parent(s) with mental health issues
- Traumatic or violent attack
It is unfortunate but for many of us we have experienced one or more of these circumstances mentioned. You may actually consider yourself fortunate if you have not experienced any of these in one form or another. The reason being that as you may have already through your journey of life. Nothing or no-one is perfect so quite often these things can happen without significant purpose or reason.
Many a time even when you believe you have dealt with these issues and put them behind you, they can still rear there ugly head and disrupt our success of reaching our goals. The only way to deal with them is to engage in Professional help that is going to support your body, mind balancing and developing positive life skills.
A very effective way I have found of doing this during my practice as a Naturopathic and Massage Practitioner has been combining both the healing power of touch with cognitive support counselling. In my clinic this is known and performed as Energy or Spiritual Balancing
