I would like to share with you some “Food for Thought” in Choosing a Health Professional/Professionals. This can be a daunting and difficult challenge. But Vitally important when wanting to either improve your health or overcome a serious illness or disease. In my years of practice one of my major roles has been in supporting my clients with their role in the Health Quadrant to achieve the best results for their return to health.

When I say investing I do not just mean financial investment, it is about making your health a priority, understanding your body, how it functions and how you can best support your body to function optimally. This includes – all aspects of your life. The food you eat, the thoughts you think, the people whom you engage with, personally, supporting your health care and the lifestyle you live. It is in learning how to take control and responsibility for your health that will not only improve your quality of health, will also improve your quality of life.
The decision you make when choosing Health Professionals and People to support your health, I believe it is one, if not the most important decision you will ever make in your life. The only decision that is more important than choosing a health professional is in the understanding that what you do each and every day has an impact on your health, it can either be a positive impact or a negative one depending on the choices you make.
It is important that when choosing a health professional or health professionals to work with you in regards to your health is that it is a two way streak. Even though in the medical profession today, there are marvellous breakthroughs with assisting people with their health.
The most important thing to remember is that the least damage you do to your health and the bigger the input you have to obtaining and maintaining a healthier you, will make the recovery from either a health crisis or maybe accident so much more successful.
Before I go into this any further with you I would like to just point out the IMPORTANCE of PRIVATE HEALTH COVER.
I know when you are young, you don’t every envisage becoming so sick that you will need extended hospital stays or health support and you may well think that the Public system will look after me. Yes, they do the best they can with the limited funds that they have.
However, if you want to have your own Doctor, Specialist, want to be able to stay in hospital with all the necessary tests and treatments needed to get you back on track, so you can once again become well. Then I beg you, don’t turn down PRIVATE HEALTH COVER, saying you CAN’T afford it or you hope you will NEVER need it. Commence this when you are young, have taken directly from your source of income and you will NEVER MISS IT.
Food for Thought 6 Steps to Consider when Choosing Health Professionals & Health Support
1: Ask Around (Get a second or even third opinion) – What is interesting that when it comes to choosing people to do building work to our homes –
We will ask our friends and colleagues for recommendations and do some inquiry into who is the right person for the job.
However when it comes to body there doesn’t seem to be the same concerns or level of enquiries made. If you are unwell you will just head off to a Doctor then then may be referred to a Specialist, without considering whether what this health professional is going to prescribe or do to you as to whether this is going to help you in becoming better or will it cause you further harm.
It is common to just take what medication that is prescribed or have the operation that is mentioned without questioning the consequences or outcomes.
2: Let’s compare this to your car as you all like your car to run efficiently and don’t like the inconvenience of it breaking down. So as an example, what if you take out the motor will it work, if you put in a motor that isn’t the right one for the model of your car will it work, if you put in wrong fuel, oil, maybe include some sugar or water in the petrol tank just for good measure.
How will this effect the running of your vehicle well your body is similar, except for one major factor that without the correct treatment your body will not heal and the chances of you becoming incapacitated and even dying have risen because of not doing your homework or asking questions.
3: Treating your Body with Respect for Optimal Results: What do you think might happen people spend years smoking cigarettes, taking drugs, drinking excessive quantities of alcohol, eating unhealthy food and engaging with unhealthy relationships. Even though as you may have seen with many people the body can be very resilient and seems to be able to take a great deal of abuse before it breaks down. However, when the time comes and diagnosis is made of a disease or health problem, the chances of recovery are minimal and any quality of life has be lost.
4: It is important for Therapies & Treatments Improve & Restore Function: Medically prescribed medications, that is the best way that I can describe them for you, they may provide some initial benefits, but when it comes to return of health long term, they can cause further health problems because of their side effects and having a detrimental effect on the body’s ability to function in unison.
