Delight your Sweet Tooth with Cacao & Cashew Truffles

4 Easy Steps to make this Healthy Treat

Sugar & Dairy Free

Sugar and as you most like aware are two important foods to either eliminate or minimize within your diet. However, I don’t have a huge Sweetooth, I admit I prefer savoury foods. But at least once a day I do crave for something a little sweet that isn’t going to harm my health or add unwanted kilos. Most of the time I enjoy fruit, but every once in a while, I do like something different and also something that I can have on hand for family and friends. These Cacao Truffles are great for those occasions.

Dates: Maple Syrup & Honey are Healthier Choices than Sugar!

Dates are known to improve digestion and restore energy, Pure Canadian Maple syrup has nutritional, and antioxidants benefits, doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients. Pure Organic Honey is a highly nutritious, with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antibacterial and antifungal potential. However, honey still is high in calories and will raise blood sugar levels, at a much slower rate than sugar, therefore should only be consumed in moderation, no more than 5 teaspoons per day. That is pretty rare, I personally would only consume one to two teaspoons of honey per day.

Ingredients:
2 cups raw cashews
1 cup of raw pistachios
3/4 cup raw cacao powder
6 Pitted Dates
1 tblespn. Coconut oil
¼ cup Filtered Water
1 cup shredded, dried organic unsweetened coconut flakes
2 tblespn Maple Syrup or Honey

Preparation
Step 1 – Grind the cashews, pistachios in a food processor to a fine consistency then add the cacao, dates, coconut oil, maple syrup

Step 2 – Once everything is blended well, add the water (starting with smallest amount and build if need be) to make the mixture moist.

Step 3 – Empty mixture into a bowl and get ready to ROLL! Take a small amount of the mixture, and roll using the palm of your hands into balls about the size of a squash ball, (you can go smaller if you want to get more out of the recipe).

To make them look attractive and even tastier you can have add some coconut flakes in one bowl, crushed nuts, slivered almonds in another, then cacao powder in another, then roll and press each ball into the ingredients to cover them evenly.

Step 4 – To keep the truffles firm store in the fridge until ready to eat.

Bon Appetit!
